At the end of 2013, BDD Beteiligungs GmbH (holding company of Thermamax Hochtemperaturdämmungen GmbH in Germany and Thermamax Inc. in the USA) started with the foundation of a trading company in Taicang, near Shanghai. With the foundation of Taicang Thermamax High Temperature Insulation Equipment Co., Ltd., the Mannheim-based specialist for high-temperature insulation takes a further step in its growth and internationalization strategy.
Ensuring proximity to existing and globally active customers was one of the main reasons for Thermamax to open its subsidiary in China. Thanks to cooperation with locally producing companies, customers in China (and Asia) can now be supplied with proven Thermamax products directly from Taicang. This ensures shorter delivery times and makes it easier to do business. This additionally fulfills the local content requirements.
The new company headquarters are located in Taicang, about an hour’s drive north of the economic metropolis of Shanghai, in the modern Rhine River Centre. Taicang is also considered a model German city in China. Almost 200 German companies, some of them well-known, are now represented in the city of 500,000 inhabitants in Jiangsu Province.
The business activities of the newly established company will initially focus on the marine sector. However, it is planned to gradually develop the markets in which Thermamax is already established outside China: automotive, on- and off-highway, oil & gas, power generation.
