The V-Band lamp Insulation with tmax-TwistTec

Various components in the engine compartment and exhaust tract are connected to each other by a large number of fasteners – usually metal V-band clamps – to form an overall system. Even an otherwise perfectly insulated system is “thermally open” at these points. Here, heat energy is radiated unintentionally and uncontrollably into the engine compartment. In addition to the temperature loss, there is a risk that sensitive components in the surrounding area will be damaged by the heat radiation.

The tmax-V-Band Clamp Insulation solves even the last heat weak points

The patented tmax-V-Band clamp insulation consists of a stainless steel outer jacket lined on the inside with an insulating molded part. Two different locking systems, depending on the customer’s requirements, allow the insulation to be firmly mounted to the V-Band Clamp. In contrast to the classic screw cap, the stainless steel V-Band Clamps with tmax-TwistTec can be installed easily and securely without additional fasteners. The innovative tmax-TwistTec fastening variant works according to the “sardine can principle”. Using a special tool, that is included, roll up a tab on the fairing until the V-Band Clamp fits perfectly, and the joint is completely insulated.

V-Band Clamp Insulation

The tmax-V Band Clamp Insulation makes exhaust gas aftertreatment even more efficient. Because a minimized heat loss means better working conditions for the entire exhaust system.

The Tmax-V-Band clamp insulation is easy to assemble and disassemble. Non-insulated joints can be easily retrofitted.

Robust stainless steel protects the insulation from splash water, heat radiation, and stone chips and makes it insensitive to leaks from the exhaust system. Due to the minimized heat loss, surrounding components are safe. Tmax-V band clamp insulation can also be designed with tmax-DryTec, the water-repellent insulation fibers. This prevents splashing water from entering the insulation system, and the insulation retains its insulating properties even when wet.

The attractive stainless-steel design forms a unit with the other tmax products and ensures a valuable overall appearance.

Individual adaptation to technical customer requirements regarding geometries, sizes, and installation space of the components is possible.

tmax-TwistTec Insulated in no time

The tmax-V Band Clamp Insulation is available with two closure systems and different tmax insulation inlays, depending on customer requirements. In addition to the classic screw cap fastening*, tmax now offers a new
fixing system: tmax-TwistTec.

Tmax-TwistTec works according to the “sardine can principle”: using a simple special tool, included in the supply, a tab is rolled up on the cladding and twisted shut until the insulation is firmly and perfectly in place.

Results from long-term tests

The tmax V-band insulation successfully passes even the heaviest dust and dirt loads

In several long-term tests, we checked the insulation in real conditions on roads with heavy dust and dirt. The insulation concept was checked for wear, overheating of the insulation material and deformation, cracking and corrosion of the outer shell.

After many long-term tests, we can state: The patented tmax V-band insulation passes the toughest conditions on the road.

The result: the outer shell shows no deformation, cracks, or signs of corrosion. All resistance weld points on the outer shell are stable, and no corrosion was detected. The insulation material is also in good condition, with no signs of wear or overheating. Minimal ingress of dust particles also has no effect on the function of the system.
